International NGO ViVID is a Japanese non-governmental organization founded in February 2020, with a vision to make Africa a more vivid place by developing its local community and ensuring inclusivity for everyone. In addition, the organization promotes efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which includes 17 goals with 169 targets that all United Nations Member States have agreed to work towards achieving by the year 2030. Through the partnership of SDGs 17.16 and 17.17 (* 1) and based on the "Five Colors of ViVID's Philosophy" (* 2), through the "Three Pillars Approach of ViVID" (* 3), with the aim of achieving the "Three Missions of ViVID" (* 4), we are working to make the local community more colorful by improving the QOL of each local resident.
We aim to enhance the quality of life of all community members, especially vulnerable peoples, such as infants, toddlers, children, women, the elderly, persons with physical/mental disabilities, and unemployed people. Therefore, our slogan is "Colorful Life for All!" to illustrate our goal to provide a fulfilling colorful life for all people.

3.Thoughts and Philosophy Behind the Organization’s Name, Logo, Color and Slogan
A. About the Organization’s Name "ViVID"
Our organization name, ViVID, is an abbreviation of "Vivid Village for Inclusive Development." We chose the word "vivid" for both the organization name and as a part of its abbreviation, in order to represent the vibrant villages we are aiming to achieve through community development projects. Moreover, we included "Inclusive Development," which is the most essential concept whenever we do projects in Africa.
For more on the interpretation of ''Inclusive Development'' by our organization, please refer to 4. Terminology of our Organization.
The following is the image of Africa that we associate with the word vivid:
-
Active lives of people in Africa
-
A diverse group of people happily living together
-
Using painting as a tool to capture the beauty and traditions of the African culture
B. About the Organization’s Logo and Color
The following six patterns are the logos used by our organization, ViVID. A dynamic font was chosen for the ViVID group name; the group colors are blue, yellow, red, green, and orange. With vivid colors and dynamic design, we show a community where the locals, and a variety of stakeholders (individuals, NGOs, private companies, research institutes, etc.), come together in order to collaboratively develop the area, which is how we aim to support our communities. In addition, the circle surrounding the slogan and the ViVID organization name represents the way stakeholders and community members come together for a common goal.
The five colors, blue, yellow, red, green, and orange, have meanings and are consistent with "Five Colors of ViVID's Philosophy."
C. Five Colors of ViVID's Philosophy
Philosophy of Blue: Transparency
At VIVID, we constantly work to increase transparency in how our organization operates. In order to do so, we implement the following:
a. Donations and aids are used in a timely manner for the right purpose without contributing to corruption or bribery of developing countries’ governments or community powers. We will publicize whether the funds eventually reached the target community and local community members who have problems, and whether it was effective or not.
b. We will publicize the decisions, project objectives, and contents within our organization in an easy-to-see and easy-to-understand manner.
c. We will work while disclosing information as needed and keeping records in a form that can be verified by a third-party.
We believe that by these three points we can successfully increase transparency in how we operate and work with the African community.
Philosophy of Yellow: Independence and Fairness
We are an independent non-profit organization unrelated to any religious or political organizations. We manage in accordance with our vision and basic philosophy without receiving external pressure to our decision-making. In addition, we treat any local inhabitants fairly and equally, regardless of age, gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, disability, religious/political views.
Philosophy of Red: Community-based
We actively listen to the opinions of local community members and treat them with respect at all times. In addition, we respect the social structure and values that originally exist within the community, and plan to execute projects that suit the area with the perspective of local members in mind. We believe it is essential to develop areas in collaboration with the local community members while building trust, and to create an environment where community members can participate in the development independently. We strive to become an organization that is loved by the residents.
Philosophy of Green: Sustainability
We solve a wide variety of issues such as hunger, poverty, water, nutrition, education, hygiene, medical care, welfare, gender, agriculture, environment, energy and more that African communities currently face and create new value and opportunities. We also protect the environment for the future of the communities satisfying the desires of future generations through sustainable development.
Philosophy of Orange: Accountability
At VIVID, we hold ourselves accountable for all information on various activity schedules, contents, results, and more so that involved community members, stakeholders, grant providers, and supporters of ViVID receive them in a timely manner. In addition, we publicize all steps to our decision making process, and strive to ensure everyone involved with our organization understands our purpose and goals within our activities.
