Vol.10. "Visit Report to Dr.Hideyo Noguchi Museum & Memorial Garden in Accra"

Updated: Oct 31, 2020

In the 10th episode of the “Stay Home Stay with ViVID” series, I would like to summarize "Visit report to Dr.Hideyo Noguchi Museum & Memorial Garden in Accra (2017)".

In the 3rd episode of the series, we presented about NMIMR, where locates in University of Ghana. By 30 minutes “trotro” ride which is the common transport system like shared taxi from NMIMR, we reach Korle-bu teaching hospital, where Dr.Hideyo Noguchi Museum & Memorial Garden (Noguchi museum) is in. After looking for the museum about 15 minutes, we found this signboard !! What a comical picture…lol

After we paid 5 GHC (about 1 USD) as of 2017 as entrance fee, we could see the lab that Dr.Noguchi was doing his research and a cozy museum. In the museum, Dr.Noguchi’s relics such as an old watch, microscope, and his calligraphy “patience” were placed nicely.

This calligraphy “patience” made me think of how hard it was for an Asian man to be successful in Europe and Africa at that era.

After all, the most exciting part would be the temperature record during his last 10 days of his life.

After things return to normal, why don’t you making a little side step to meet Dr.Noguchi.

Finally we launched crowdfunding page for non-japanese speaking supporters !! 16 supporters thankfully have joined in our project by funding so far. However, we still have a long way to go to support the whole Sekyere community. Your help would be much appreciated!!
