In the 6th episode of the “Stay Home Stay with ViVID” series, I would like to summarize "Basic information of Our Supporting community, Sekyere - Population and Industry - ".
⭐️Where is Sekyere? ⭐️
Sekyere is a community located in the Ashanti region, the third largest regions of the 16 administrative regions in Ghana. Following the Accra, a capital city of Ghana, Kumasi is the second biggest city of the country as well as the capital of the Ashanti region. Kumasi is famous as birthplace of the Kofi Annan, who was Secretary-General of the United Nations from January 1997 to December 2006, and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001. Furthermore, Sekyere is a community located in the Sekyere Kumawu district in Ashanti region, whose capital community is Kumawu.

⭐️What is industry in Sekyere ⭐️
According to the 2010 Population and Housing Census, the population of Sekyere-Kumawu region, where Sekyere community belongs to, was about 65,000, and about 80% of the people lived on agriculture. (The latest version of the 2020 Population and Housing Census has also been postponed due to the effects of coronaviruses.) Most farmers run crop farming, and the most important crops in the region, are yam, maize, and plantain, and rice. About 35% of farmers also own livestock. In fact, chickens are the most common livestock, but some farmers also keep goats, sheep, turkeys and pigs.
The main road of Sekyere, Effiduase-Sekyere road, runs the downtown of Sekyere community, connecting with a neighbouring community Effiduase in Sekyere-East district.
